Our Mission

Heretical Ideas is a webzine devoted to in-depth examination of opinions, ideas, and culture. Originally founded as a weblog in October 2001 (which is still available here), the site has evolved to incorporate a number of essayists exploring a broad variety of different topics in a thoughtful, entertaining way. We examine everything from politics to religion to film to cooking to language.

Fiction

In addition to publishing articles, we publish short fiction on our site every Saturday. We publish primarily science fiction and fantasy, but all genres will be represented. Our focus on fiction is on high quality stories featuring weird, entertaining ideas.

Submissions

Heretical Ideas is currently closed to unsolicited submissions for both our fiction and article departments.
